The cast of Sleeping Beauty (Houston Grand Opera’s “Opera to Go!“) drove a little further than normal last Friday to perform for the Mayberry-like town of Livingston, Texas. We really enjoyed our visit to Livingston and were received great responses from children and teachers alike.
One unique opportunity was to perform for a small group of hearing-impaired students with the assistance of sign-language interpreters. In order to help these children understand the show better, the teachers brought the children backstage beforehand to introduce our characters to them. This is a short video of that meeting. Personally, I find this really touching!
We also had some down time in Livingston and I caught a video of this impromptu opera on the steps of the Livingston courthouse!
