Cafe Brasil: Take 3

Last night Opera Vista hosted its third event at Montrose’s Cafe Brasil. It was a cabaret night featuring the music of Kurt Weill.

We have been really excited about this event and felt like it would be a real treat for the audience. Unfortunately, Mother Nature wanted to make things a little difficult - the city was being drowned in thunderstorms! Since our events at Brasil are planned to be outdoors on the back patio, this presented us with a challenge. We were able to move the event indoors, but there was another special event happening inside the restaurant that ended at the exact moment that our event was supposed to start! Basically, the moment the other party finished, we made a mad dash to get set up and started. It was kind of chaotic, but everyone seemed to understand and just roll with the punches.

Once we got settled, the evening was a blast. The walls of Brasil were a flurry of great music, laughter, and conversation. Shelley Auer, Alison Greene, and Misha Penton sang with panache and style, accompanied by Stephen Jones. And Viswa Subbaraman announced Opera Vista’s upcoming events and gave away some free tickets for our spring festival.

Check out the preview aired on Houston Public Radio “The Front Row” here.
