Africa Part 1

Just wanted to post a brief message to let everyone know I made it safe to Africa. I’m here in Cape Town, South Africa. Our team will be here for 7 more days before we go to Harare, Zimbabwe for another 8 days. The last few days will be a brief excursion to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

We are here to work with children. We are a team of Christian artists. We are using the arts to engage children - I am of course the musical portion of that. We start with our arts camp on Monday in the community of Boekoombos. It’s a REALLY poor village on the outskirts of Cape Town. The people are so special…I got there and my heart just fell in love and I wanted to get my own little ramshackle structure to live in. The children just seemed so exuberant and I got the sense that these people know how to love one another. I can’t wait to get started on Monday. We were told that there would be around 100 children at our camp. However, the current estimate is that there will probably be 200 children or more! Should be interesting. And this is just a team of 6 people running this camp!

I hope to post some of my pictures the next time I get to a computer….who knows when that will be!

My time in the ‘net cafe is running out! Cheers!
