I think most people, when they experience a work of art, are not only interested in WHAT it is, but also HOW it was created. Most everyone wants to pull back the curtain and see the wizard who makes it all happen. As in so many things, children can be such an example of how we all think. While performing for “Opera to Go!” we get questions from children at every show about HOW the show was put together: How long did you rehearse? How did you change clothes so fast? How did you make the set? How did you learn to sing like that? Those questions are just as significant as the performance itself.
So, when I ran across this video today, I was completely mesmerized. I love looking at a good piece of visual art, but often it feels stagnant and “dead” to me. Where did the art come from? Where is it going? This artist, Kseniya Simonova, sheds light on the subject.
