Tattoo

Tattoo, originally uploaded by Behold How Free.

My new tattoo is a Mandarin Chinese symbol. It has two meanings: “wild” and “field.” I chose it for both meanings. “Wild” is fairly self-explanatory, and “field” is based on an incredible Rumi poem I came across recently. This is the poem:

There Is A Field

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn’t make any sense.
